'Responsive' sites 'respond' to a screen's size and automatically resize to fit, even changing in real time when a smartphone or tablet is rotated from portrait to landscape orientation. Such sites, also known as 'RWD' sites (for Responsive Web Design), are preferred by search engines. With all other factors taken into account, an RWD version of a site will always outrank an equivalent non-RWD site.
